Humane society. They have already been checked out and have most of their shots and are spayed or neutered.

humane society because the ones from pet shops come from mills, which are very nasty and cruel places people breed just to make money. they live in nasty conditions etc, which therefore, we should never buy from a petshop because that would mean that we are keeping those people that breed in such inhumane ways in business

Please, PLEASE , PLEASE adopt from the Humane Society… There are some wonderful cats waiting there to Be adopted … also you will know that they are current on all their shots and spayed or neutered. Pet shops tend to use cat mills for their supply of kittens… This means the mother cat is kept in a cage most of her life and only used for breeding. she never is held or loved just used for her babies… Also if you do go to the Humane society consider adopting an older cat …. good luck with your new baby!!!!!!!

Humane society —pet shops get their animals from breeders and for the most part you can’t garrentee the pets to be in good condition. Humane society you will be saving an animal and knowing exactly what it’s health is.

Humane Society. They need homes worse. And besides I heard of a case where the kittens at a pet shop had rabies.

I would definently get one at the humane society! Because these kitties definently need homes. But kitties at pet shops need homes too. But the humane society is probably a lot cheaper and best idea.

I got a cat from the shelter for about sixty dollars. He is the coolest cat I have ever owned. Plus I saved hi life,He was going to be put down in 48 hours. There are so many beautiful kittens and cats in the animal shelter and they come with food and a certificate for a free spay or newter. The only problem is,is to have to choose just one.

    Hi there!

I actually used to work at the humane society in MD, and I would definitely say get a cat from there! Make sure however that the cat is up-to-date on all of its age appropriate shots (most humane societies do this) and if it is not already spayed or neutered get a HASP certificate from them. Usually when you adopt a cat or dog from a humane society they include a certificate that can be used with almost any vet that covers the cost of a spay or neuter. Also, they will do an exit exam before you take the cat home just to check and make sure everything is ok but they will most likely tell you about URI before you take your new bundle of joy home. URI is an upper respiratory infection (a fancy term for a cold) and is something a lot of animals that come to the humane society are sick with, but most of the time they cannot treat it until they know they are sick. Sometimes symptoms come up after the animal is adopted and taken home. Keep your eyes peeled for a runny nose, congestion, watery eyes and loss of appetite. It would be good idea to take your cat to the vet as soon as possible just to get a check up and get your veterinarian introduced to your new cat. Hope this helps! :)
