charlotte b asked:
I already have a pet insurance, but now realize that it doesn’t cover on-going conditions after 12 months, so as my dog has life long condition it doesn’t cover anymore, so basically im wasting my money, so can anyone recommend another pet insurance that maybe be able to help me as i cant pay huge pet bills!!!!
Call up your carrier and ask for a different policy.
Some carriers *will* cover certain pre-existing conditions. Yes, it will be pricey, and yes, there will be some caps and limitations. But these policies absolutely exists.
You won’t find a pet insurance company that will cover pre existing conditions. They would go broke because everyone whose dogs became ill would want cover. It would be like expecting a company to cover your car for damages after you had already crashed it.
The pet insurance policies are single 12 month policies rather than one continuing renewable policy. That’s how they get away with only covering the dog for 12 months care.
I cancelled my pet insurance policy and now I put money in pet fund bank account every month. I have it automatically deducted from my regular bank account.
To the best of my knowledge, no insurance will cover existing conditions and you may be stuck with your existing insurance. … :o(
However, it depends what kind of condition your dog suffer from. Sometimes it is just a case of clever wording on the claim form (by your vet). Obviously, all treatment directly related to the condition would not be covered … but one condition often leads to another, and THAT should then be classed as a separate condition by your vet. This is not as obvious as it may sound….
I’ve been dealing with 2 dogs with different autoimmune diseases for the past 13 years. – Luckily, I have insurance policies that promise “cover for life”, regardless of the illness.
Which condition does your dog suffer from?
I live in the UK and have insurance with Marks and Spencers which will cover a condition for the life of the dog assuming you don’t change providers then go back to them. If you take out a new policy with them it doesn’t cover any pre-existing condition though so wouldn’t help in your case I’m sorry. It probably is best that you set aside a different bank account and pay an amount in monthly which would help to spread the cost, your vet may also be able to recommend a scheme which would help you keep the the bills more manageable. My vet offers a club which you pay an annual fee to join and it covers health checks, reduces the cost of consultations and any required medication. I hope you find something which works for you, best wishes.
YES…you *ARE* wasting your money!!!
What a SCAM!!!
NO insurance will cover pre-exsisting conditions=NONE!! ALL are rip-off SCAMS!!!
STOP wasting your money!!
Everyone is correct, no insurance companies will cover pre-existing conditions. It’s too bad that your plan doesn’t cover issues over the life. My policy with Vetinsurance covers $20 000 with no limits per condition. You could check out to get some consumer opinions on different companies in North America.
