How much would it cost to buy a parakeet and all supplies needed to get it started on average?

Bobby asked:

I’ve had a few pet birds in my past when I was a kid. And now I am just curious to know how much it would be to buy a parakeet or two plus a cage and toys and what not. I am just looking to see if it is a reasonable price and that if it is worth it. I just remember them being very simple. And that’s what I liked about them.
Thanks!

well at a store in my area parakeets are like 2 for 25 and a cage is anywhere between 15-200.

I would say at least $100.00-200 .00 to get a big enough cage and all the trimmings plus the birds. If you can find a budgie breeder in your area , they frequently will help out with a used cage and accessories if you buy birds from them.

Prices vary in different regions. Check out any local breeders, they can advise & possibly keep costs down.
