How can I keep kitten from attacking older dog?

We have an 19wk stray kitten who loves to play. Our 12 year old cock-a -poo doesn’t always feel like playing with her. They end up sparring a little but the kitten almost always wins and hurts the dog’s feelings because the dog doesn’t always know the kitten is playing; and trust me, I have scratches all over me, the kitten plays a little rough. What can I do?

    Next time kitty is heading for the doggy when the dog is clearly sleeping, or does not want to be bothered. Get a ****** bottle of water and quirt the little ****** with it. it should be enough to re-direct his attention to something more fun. Perhaps a catnip ball or string toy.
