Rose asked:
People make a big deal out of pet stores and people getting guinea pigs from there. I have gotten several guinea pigs from there and shelters and the shelters ones seem more timid and unhealthy. I prefer pet stores more than shelters. I am getting a baby pig from Pet World tomorrow. What’s your opinion of pet stores?

i work at one and we are awesome…
some are not so awesome.. keeping g-pigs in ten gallon tanks…. and bunnies too…
so it all depends on the store and if the employees care about the animals…

all animals are gonna come there but people’s point are that the ones in the shelter needs homes because there the way they are because of negect. there great as long as you have time to work with him/her to gain your trust. i adopted a rabbit that was there for 5 months because so was so timid and everything scared her. now she runs around and plays with the turtles.
pet stores, exp pet world, the supplier treat there animals like ****. hard to thin since they charge so much. if one get out they wont ketch it, they stomp it. when overpopulated they fill the cages with water and drown them or electricut them.
( that’s what their saying )

The store itself is fine. The employees are probably great, but it’s where the pets come from.
I know it says petsmart, but it’s true in most stores. They’re mistreated and abused even. When you buy a pet from a pet store, you’re contributing to the animal cruelty. The suppliers to pet stores are the ones to blame. And you may think “Oh, if I buy them from petstores, I’m saving them!”
No. Because they’re still alive and at the petstore. However, the ones being shipped and still at the suppliers where thousands of animals are kept in horrible conditions are dying.,
