Where do pet shops get their fish?

    vendors who buy them from breeders

    Lakes, oceans, swamps and rivers. Plain and simple.

    They get them from breeders, other pet shops and people who have bred fish at home who bring them in(after through examination).

    Believe it or not, they are called fish farms. Instead of crops, these places have set ups like fish hatchery’s do. Depending on the type of fish, from mud ponds, to cement ponds, sheds with large ponds, tanks and facility’s. China, Japan , Malaysia, Taiwan, are some of the heavier farms and import a lot of fish. Canada and the US also have their fair share.

    Wholesalers, venders, breeders and dealers all play a part.

    It depends on the type of fish. Most freshwater fish are farm raised. While many salt water fish are wild caught.
