I’m interested in a career in pet grooming and I was thinking of trying Petsmart. I was just wondering about how much I’d be making and how much it would cost to get training.

I don’t know about Pet Smart, but, I learned by apprenticing under a Master Groomer, started out doing Bathing, moved up to blow drying, then clippering and scissoring.
Lots of busy grooming shops employ Bathers, this is a good way to get started.
As you are learning you can make about the equivalent of 8 or 9 dollars an hour. Most Groomers and Bathers get paid a percentage. Bathers typically make about 20%, trained Groomers usually make 50 or 60%. After you get good at it and can do 5 or more dogs a day on average you can make $100-$150 a day, more if you own your own shop. But, Grooming is HARD WORK! If it wasn’t every one would groom thier own dogs!
I’ve been doing it for 30 years now, and I’m starting to pay the price! The average career for a Groomer lasts only 7 years.
The best thing about knowing how to groom is that you can go just about anywhere and make instant money.
