j asked:
I’m really interested in looking for a good pet Insurance but I’m not sure how they work? I looked into VPI but they work by giving people reimbursements and that’s not some thing that intereste me. Do they all work in those type of terms?
I do not.
I have an emergency fund for my dogs that I contribute to monthly.

I don’t recommend using pet insurance, as they rarely cover what you may expect them to. It’s much safer to set up a savings account for pet emergencies.
Here’s a question I answered earlier today that may change your mind:
pet insurance is awaste of money but they do have a pet credit card its better cause you dont half to pay if yoy dont use it and it covers everything i cant think of the name of it and im at work but ask your vet im sure theyll know!
Hi there! I recently took my puppy to get fixed, and for shots and having her nails trimmed, and an ear cleaning and it was almost $600.00!!! So of course, afterwards they talked to us about getting pet insurance. Everyone below answered correctly. They pretty much cover things that rarely happen. She Also had a package that you could pick the ammount of money ( they set certain ammounts like 200.00 400.00 600.00..and so on..) and you use it as money towards your next visit. But that’s hard too because you never know how much you are going to need. I would call local vets in your area and ask, or always GOOGLE or search online..They also have something called “CARE CREDIT” an actual credit card for dogs, strictly for a vet. You have to call and give them a few answers and they look into how much you make ect. From there they decide if you qualify for a pet credit card. Which I did not!!! LOL..
Good Luck!
Most pet insurance companies work by reimbursing policy holders after the services are rendered. So, realistically, even with pet insurance you should still have a contingency fund or other method of initially paying for your pet’s medical care.
Rather than paying for a plan that covers a great deal of things, it might be more beneficial to find a plan that covers just some extreme medical conditions. Typically, a plan that covers less will have lower premiums and that would save you some money, but you would still have some basic coverage in case something serious happened. It’s really important to fully understand what you are getting in a policy as well as what is excluded by the policy.
A little research in this area can save a mountain of grief later.
