What is involved in running an online pet supply retail business?

I’ve run across several sites about starting and running an online pet supply “store”. I’m in college and unable to work a normal job due to circumstances, but I need income and I’ve always been interested in pet supply retail. How complicated do you think it would be? Any pointers?

    Running an online store is not as easy as many sites make it sound. You will need to know or learn a good deal about how to market the business to get customers.

    For the best chance at success, specialize in a product that pet owners want but isn’t already being sold by the big online stores. Alternatively, you can sell readily available products, but offer an additional service that the big retailers don’t offer.

    Do a lot of research before you start to determine what to sell, how to sell it, and how to outsell the competition.
