What is the best pet to get for a 10 gallon tank?

It can be a mammal or reptile but NOT fish spiders, scorpions or other largeish bugs. Im thinkin about a turtle but it might be to big for a 10 gallon tank. So based on your experience what is the best smallish pet to have?

    Mammals like hamsters and gerbils need wire cages to prevent them from getting sick.

    Hermit crabs! They are cute, don’t take much work, don’t smell and 10 gal is just the right size. You can get creative decorating their habitat according to your personality, and they aren’t expensive.

    A gecko would be OK or mice.
